Gateway Music Academy Vice-Principal: Hu Qiuzi
Hu Qiuzi studied under Rachel Walker (Principal Oboist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra) and received her Bachelor of Music (Hons) in Oboe Performance from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
Following that, Qiuzi completed her Master of Music degree with Jane Marvin, and pursued a Graduate Performance Diploma with Katherine Needleman, at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
As an orchestral musician in Singapore, Qiuzi has freelanced as an Oboist (doubling on English Horn) with a variety of Ensembles including the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Metropolitan Festival Orchestra Singapore, Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra and the BASE Philharmonic Orchestra.
Qiuzi is also a much sought-after Oboe tutor, and currently teaches Oboe and Piano in a variety of private and government schools in Singapore.
