Gateway Music Academy Principal: Kenneth Lun
Kenneth Lun graduated from the prestigious Peabody Institute of the John Hopkins University, Baltimore MD, USA with a Bachelor of Music (Major in Trumpet Performance and Minor in Jazz Trumpet) in 2005. His primary teachers were Ed Hoffman (former Associate Principal Trumpet of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra) and Wayne Cameron (former 1st Trumpet Player with the Chesapeake Brass Quintet). He also had lessons and masterclasses with Andrew Balio (Principal Trumpet of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra) and Hiro Noguchi (Broadway Trumpet Player).
Since coming back from the USA, Kenneth has had a most distinguished career in the music scene. He has served as Principal Trumpet of the Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra since 2008, and also plays Lead and Solo Trumpet with the Summertimes Jazz Band. Kenneth has also had the privilege of performing as Principal Trumpet with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet and the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra.
Apart from the Concert Stage, Kenneth is also one of the most experienced and sought after trumpeters for Musicals and Pop Concerts. His ever-expanding list of performances include Cabaret, West Side Story, The King and I, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Beauty World (solo trumpet), The Magic Box, Sing Dollar!, Victor/Victoria, Fried Rice Paradise, Wicked, A Chorus Line, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Singapura, The LKY Musical, Evita. He has also recorded and performed with Dick Lee, the Dim Sum Dollies, Frankie Valli, Han Hong, Jimmy Ye, Joanna Dong, Paul Anka, Sarah Brightman and many other Local and International Superstars.
Kenneth currently serves on the Trumpet Faculty at the School Of The Arts, the National University of Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Band and Wind Symphony, as well as the Singapore Armed Forces Bands. He also teaches trumpet at various Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Institutes throughout the country.
