Gateway Voice Faculty: Sim Wei Ying

Singaporean soprano Sim Wei Ying attained her Bachelors of Music Degree at Royal College of Music-Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) with first class honors.

Her performance experiences include singing the roles of Ciboulette in Offenbach’s Mesdames de la Halle (2017), Fanchette in Offenbach’s Le Mariage aux Lanternes (2016), Xantippe in Offenbach’s Daphnis et Chloe (2016), in the chorus of Humperdinck’s Hansel und Gretel (2015), Bizet’s Carmen (2016) and with The Philharmonic Chamber Choir. Wei Ying was the second prize winner of NAFA Vocal Competition 2018 and a finalist at the Singapore Lyric Opera (SLO) ASEAN Vocal Competition 2018 (Open Category).

Wei Ying has had the privilege of being taught and coached by Dr. Jessica Chen, Vladimir Chernov, Olga Toporkova, Andrea Rost, Nancy Yuen, William Lim and Nicholas Loh.

Currently, she sings in the SLO-Leow Siak Fah Artist Training Programme and also conducts school choirs.
