Gateway Saxophone Faculty: Luo Tianze

Luo Tianze is a passionate Saxophonist who is currently pursuing full time studies in Music at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). Since picking up the saxophone, Tianze has performed various solo works, new music works with the most recent at the 1st Asian Saxophone Congress and 18th World Saxophone Congress. In 2016 and 2018, Tianze was also featured as an Honor Student at the Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy held at Bangkok.

In his 15 years of music making journey, Tianze has had the opportunity to work with several local and international artists and performed with groups like the Singapore Wind Symphony, Orchestra Collective, Windstars Ensemble, NAFA Wind Orchestra and Elite Symphoniker Orchestra. In 2017, Tianze also performed with the Protégé Saxophone Quartet a saxophone quartet formed with his colleagues of the Nanyang of Fine Arts, at the Soochow University, Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Hangzhou Arts High School. He was also featured as a soloist with the Sembawang Wind Orchestra’s Könzert XXVI.

Apart from his saxophone playing, Tianze also coaches young musicians from secondary schools, junior colleges and currently hold the position of a Junior Teacher at the Flute and Music Academy. Believing in giving back to the society, Tianze participates regularly in the community-organized activities with the Sembawang Wind Orchestras and Protégé Saxophone Ensemble.
