Gateway Flute Faculty: Ke Yi-Chun

Born in Taiwan, Ke Yi-Chun’s interest in music began at the tender age of four, when she had her first piano lesson. Before she came to Singapore, she studied flute with Professor Hwang Jen-Ying of the National Taiwan Normal University and the National Taiwan University of Arts.
With a full scholarship from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore, she came to Singapore and studied with Mr Jin Ta, Principal Flutist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO). In 2012, she graduated with a Bachelors Degree (Hons) of music flute performance.
Ke has performed with the Singapore Lyric Opera, Orchestra of the Music Makers, Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra and was selected to be part of the 1st Youth Olympic Games Orchestra in 2010. She has won several awards, most notably 3rd Prize of the Open Division at the Flute Festival 2010, as well as 2nd Prize of the Open Division of the 1st Singapore Ensemble Competition.
Ke is currently a freelance flutist based in Singapore. She hopes to bring music into the lives of all around her as well as to improve the general standard of Singapore’s flute playing.
