THE TRUMPET STUDIO!
Helmed by the TPT Ensemble comprising of professional Singaporean trumpeters Kenneth Lun, Lau Wenrong, Erik Tan and Ray Chionh, The Trumpet Studio is Singapore’s first Full-Scale Trumpet Centre that is a One-Stop Hub for all things Trumpet!
The Trumpet Studio offers an opportunity for students to learn under professional trumpeters in various Group/Ensemble settings. They will also be invited to attend Masterclasses by Visiting Trumpet Clinicians throughout the year.
Group/Ensemble Lessons consist of:
* Quartet Lessons (60 minute lesson, held weekly). Recommended for both intermediate and advanced students.
* Sextet Lessons (90 minute lesson, held weekly). Recommended for advanced students.
Hosted by Gateway Music Academy, students of The Trumpet Studio will have access to:
* 3 Sound-proofed Private Studios equipped with ensuite Upright Pianos and basic Recording/Playback Facilities.
* A medium-sized Showcase Studio equipped with a Yamaha Upright Piano and basic Recording/Playback Facilities that can house Trumpet Quartet sessions.
* A beautiful Recording Suite equipped with a new Yamaha Parlour Grand Piano that is capable of professional Audio/Video Recordings as well as hosting Masterclasses. The Recording Suite will be used to house Trumpet Sextet sessions.
Group/Ensemble Lessons will be carried out by TPT Members via rotation so that students will be able to attain valuable pointers from all 4 Teachers! In each lesson, students will be given the opportunity to perform their current repertoire in front of their peers, thus training them to handle performance anxiety. This will serve to improve their confidence levels when faced with auditions, exams and performances. The TPT Teacher-in-session will then proceed to give each student pointers regarding technique and musicality.
In the next part of the lesson, students will take part in Trumpet Ensemble rehearsals, in which they will be taught how to
– Listen to and work with each other
– Understand the roles of each of their parts,
– Develop a keen ear for maintaining matching tuning, dynamics and articulation as a team.
Students will be grouped according to proficiency level so that they will practice amongst their peers in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
Students of The Trumpet Studio will be given opportunities to do Recitals in both Solo as well as Ensemble settings in annual Singapore Trumpet Symposiums, the first of which will be planned for next year. Gifted Students will also be invited to perform with the TPT Ensemble for a variety of projects! Preferential rates will be offered to students who wish to do recordings at the Gateway Recording Suite. Accompanists are also available for hire should the need arise.
The Trumpet Studio is also proudly supported by Global Music Mart! Through the Global Instrument Library, Members of The Trumpet Studio will be eligible to rent Bach C trumpets as well as Schilke Eb and Piccolo Trumpets at very special rates! (Dependant on availability. Terms and conditions apply). There is also a wide variety of new and pre-loved trumpets for sale to suit students’ needs!
